After a master’s degree in agronomy obtained in France, Lea Kaufmann worked for a few years in the modelling of soil-plant-atmosphere systems within a company. She thus developed skills in computer science, which she wanted to apply to a field that matters to her: health. She started a Ph.D. in bioinformatics at the Université de Montréal in 2021. Her work in the Lemieux laboratory focuses on developing an artificial intelligence model capable of predicting the effect of chemical compounds on cancer cells based on transcriptomic profiles. The goal is to accelerate drug discovery.
